Development work is continuing on Road Constructor’s Road Authoring Points system, with the goal of improving accuracy, consistency, and control when creating and editing roads.


Road Authoring Points are a key part of the Road Constructor workflow. They define the structure, direction, height, and shape of authored roads, making them an important foundation for road drawing, editing, road alignment, height control, spline behaviour, and future tool improvements.

Recent development has focused on reviewing how these points behave in real-world editing scenarios, including point placement, point rotation, spline direction, local alignment, height accuracy, and how each point influences the surrounding road shape. This work is especially important for ensuring that road editing feels predictable and that authored roads respond correctly when users adjust points in the viewport.

Additional diagnostic tools are also being developed to help inspect Road Authoring Point behaviour more clearly. These tools make it easier to review point direction, road alignment, height values, spline frame information, and other important data that can affect the final road result. This helps ensure that any underlying issues can be identified accurately and improved without relying on guesswork.

The aim of this work is to make Road Constructor’s authoring workflow more reliable, more precise, and more intuitive for users building detailed road networks inside Unreal Engine.

This development pass is part of the continued polish and refinement of Road Constructor as it progresses toward the official Fab launch release. Further improvements will continue to be made as testing progresses, ensuring that the core road creation and editing tools remain accurate, stable, and ready for production use.
